Woodland Hills is a neighborhood located in the city of Los Angeles, California. The community is situated in the southwestern region of the San Fernando Valley and measures 8.4 square miles in size. As of 2010, the population of Woodland Hills was estimated to be 63,000 residents.
The area now known as Woodland Hills was originally inhabited by Native American tribes for centuries before being settled by Spanish colonists in the late 18th century. The land remained under Spanish rule until 1821 when it became part of Mexico following the country’s independence from Spain. Mexicans held onto the land until 1848 when it was ceded to the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo that ended the Mexican-American War.
Also, Woodland Hills is home to a number of notable residents, including several Hollywood celebrities and entertainment industry executives. The community is also home to a number of parks and recreation areas, as well as top-rated public schools.
